Jetzt ist es schon fast wieder fünf Jahre her, seit Maserati das atemberaubende Alfieri 2+2 Concept auf dem Genfer Autosalon vorgestellt hat. Die Studie basierte auf dem GranTurismo MC Stradale, allerdings mit einem wesentlich kürzeren Radstand. Als Antrieb diente ein frei saugender 4,7-Liter-V8 mit 460 PS und 520 Nm Drehmoment.

Später verkündete Maserati, den Alfieri mit einem V6 in drei Leistungsstufen (410, 450 und 520 PS) produzieren zu wollen. Es sollte ein Coupé und ein Cabrio geben, jeweils mit der Möglichkeit, Heck- oder Allradantrieb zu ordern. Die Jahre vergingen und der Alfieri fiel mehr und mehr unter den Tisch. Keiner glaubte mehr so recht daran, dass man das bildschöne Ding jemals auf der Straße würde bewundern können.
Im Juni 2018 wurde eine Straßenversion des Alfieri dann erneut bestätigt. Als Teil der großen Fünfjahres-Roadmap (2018 bis 2022) des Dreizacks. Tja, und jetzt sieht es tatsächlich so aus, als würde aus dem Konzept ein Auto werden, dass du und ich tatsächlich kaufen können. Wenn es auch nicht mehr all zu viel mit der einstigen Studie zu tun hat.
Die Bekanntgabe erfolgte soeben durch eine kurze Pressemitteilung, die besagte, dass ein "charakteristischer Maserati Sportwagen" im Werk von Modena in Vor-Produktion gehen wird. Das Ganze in der ersten Hälfte des kommenden Jahres. Das könnte bedeuten, dass die erste Charge an Fahrzeugen noch vor Ende 2020 ausgeliefert wird. Um das Ziel zu erreichen, wird Maserati im Herbst diesen Jahres mit der Aufrüstung der aktuellen Produktionslinien beginnen.
Laut vorläufigen technischen Daten von Maserati wird die Serienversion über einen Plug-in-Hybrid und einen elektrifizierten Allradantrieb verfügen. Ein aktives Torque Vectoring und aktive Aerodynamik sind offenbar ebenso auf der Agenda wie ein Aluminium-Spaceframe. Der Fokus auf Leichtbau soll das Mehrgewicht gegenüber einem konventionell angetriebenen Modell auf 175 Kilogramm beschränken.
Neben dem Alfieri Coupé und Cabrio plant Maserati bis zum Jahr 2022 auch einen komplett neuen Quattroporte und Levante, ein tiefer gehendes Update für den Ghibli sowie ein noch größeres SUV.

The future of the Modena plant: Maserati meets with public authorities and unions
Modena, 11 February 2019 – Today, at its offices in Via Ciro Menotti, Modena, Harald J. Wester, CEO of Maserati S.p.A., met with Palma Costi, Emilia-Romagna Regional Government Councillor for Productive Activities, and the Mayor of Modena, Gian Carlo Muzzarelli. Meetings were also held with union representatives during the afternoon.
The meetings re-affirmed the strategic mission of the plant, as already highlighted in FCA’s Industrial Plan presented in 2018 and currently under revision. It will be dedicated to the manufacturing of special high performance, high technology sports cars, in line with the tradition and values of the Brand, which has been present in Modena since 1939.
This will exploit the know-how and experience of the team involved in the production of Maserati cars, which requires special capabilities and a very particular fabrication cycle: a wholesome synergy of craftsmanship and innovation, unscrupulous attention to detail and the applications of the highest quality standards, resulting in the manufacturing of unique, exclusive products which represent the very best of the “Made in Italy” brand worldwide.
The plan is to upgrade and renew the current production lines starting this Autumn.
The first pre-series production cars of a totally new model, a characteristically Maserati sports car, will roll off these lines starting in the first half of next year.
The CEO has thus confirmed the key role of the Via Ciro Menotti plant in Maserati's 2018 - 2022 industrial planning; he has assured continuing production and the plan which foresees the renewal and upgrading of the production lines in preparation for the arrival of new models.
